About Hackathon
Collaboration First.
It’s a 72 hours super fun but intense build hackathon, and only 'collaboration’ mindsets will be welcomed in our hackathon.
Key to collaboration will be targeted communication, clear plan, and go to the extra mile to be inclusive.
Your Commitment:
Time & Effort
This is a BETA launch of the first-ever in-person Designpreneurs Hackathon. Therefore, we are hand-selecting individual start-up designers from SVA, Parsons, NYU Design programs, and start-up entrepreneurs from NYU alumni.
We are asking you to be fully committed from below time with your 100% effort ready:
Nov 3rd, Friday 6PM - 11PM
Nov 4th, Saturday 9AM - 11PM
Nov 5th, Sunday 9AM - 3PM
Putting Users & Product First, Design is not about being “Pretty”.
This hackathon is all about validating your problem, solution, and product features for the right product-market fit. Meeting the product-market fit means your business will exponentially grow. Focusing on the ‘pretty’ design will not be allowed and will cause side effects of derailing its user-focused goals. So put users and your product, first.
So what are we building/hacking?
Start-up Design
With the NYU entrepreneur’s business idea, problem & solution, but invalidated(or semi-validated) product and user’s desirability,
NYU Entrepreneurs & Start-up Designers will build a UX Strategy & UX Research together. First, you will build user personas, conduct competitor feature analysis, create user journey/storyboard, information architecture, product roadmap, paper sketches of wireframes for core features, conduct user testing(create interview discussion guide). After the testings, synthesize user testings and iterate feature ideas and wireframe designs. *Heavy collaboration between designer<>entrepreneur.
UX Design & UI: Design core feature wireframes & prototypes. Either pick one feature and design a flow OR pick multiple features and design a representative wireframe per feature to communicate your product idea. *Heavy on the designer, NYU entrepreneur to support and be there 100%.
Final PITCH: Create a presentation deck to pitch your design challenge. The presentation should be both presented by the designer & the NYU entrepreneur team. The winner will be announced at the final ceremony.
Be the Winner!
As the first place of the design hackathon, the team will walk away with the final prize
